Your family is one of a kind.

Your family photos should reflect that.

What is documentary family photography?

When you think of your most precious memories of times spent with your family and friends, they probably don't include getting everyone dressed up and ready to pose for family photos. I bet your most prized memories are the ones of spontaneous, fun, touching, sad, or hilarious moments that happen in everyday life. Sure, it's important to have great family portraits too, but they rarely convey what a quirky, great bunch your loved ones are. Wouldn't it be great to capture those precious moments of your daily routines?

This is where documentary family photography comes in. No need to dress up, do your hair, or make your home look like a magazine spread. No need to make your kids sit still or "behave". No cliché poses and props. Think of documentary family photography as everyday life photojournalism.

Yeah, we all have great cameras in our smartphones these days and we take heaps of photos all the time. But you know what's missing from your cellphone snapshots? YOU. You deserve to be in your family photos. Time flies. Kids grow up so fast. Let me capture those special moments while you can be present in them.

Is documentary photography for me?

It's for everyone looking for professional quality, unposed, genuine photos and a stress-free experience. Documentary photography is a great way to capture your daily routines, a birthday party, a sports event, or even a small wedding! You can expect realistic, sometimes gritty, reportage-style storytelling, sprinkled with some beautiful, candid portraits. No prep or planning is required. You live your life and I tag along for a few hours.

We're an adventurous bunch. Can you keep up?

Hell yeah! Outdoor adventures are one of my favourite things to photograph. Before moving to Whitehorse in late 2020 I spent 7 years in Inuvik, NWT where I photographed all sorts of outdoor shenanigans. I'm an experienced outdoorswoman and I am comfortable working on horseback, on a boat, ATV, or a snowmobile (I can drive those things too so you don't have to chauffeur me around). I will also gladly hike and camp with you. Yukon is such an amazing playground - let's take advantage of it!

My family packages start at $200 per hour for groups up to 10 people. I guarantee 25 professionally edited high-resolution images per hour of coverage, delivered through a private, secure online gallery. Additional images are available for purchase directly from the gallery. The photos by default are delivered in colour. The client can request before the shoot for their photos to be in black and white, or a combo of black and white and colour (at photographer's discretion).

Travel charges apply for shoots outside of Whitehorse city limits.

Before booking your session please read the Frequently Asked Questions page.
